Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

RobinPad ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website at robinpad.com and the associated community forum (the "Service"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

RobinPad has no sign-up form and no account system of its own. You never create an account with us, and you never type your personal details into robinpad.com. Signing in happens entirely through Patreon: Patreon verifies who you are, and RobinPad receives only the minimum needed to run the forum. There is no newsletter, no mailing list, and no advertising profile of you.

When you sign in to the community forum via Patreon OAuth, we receive and store the following information from your Patreon account:

  • Patreon user ID: a unique identifier used to associate your forum account with your Patreon account.
  • Display name and username: the public name shown on your forum profile and posts.
  • Email address: used for important account notifications (password resets, security alerts). Not displayed publicly.
  • Avatar URL: your Patreon profile picture, if available.
  • OAuth access and refresh tokens: used to keep you signed in and to verify your Patreon membership status.

Everything else stays with Patreon. Your Patreon account, your pledge, your billing details and your payment history are Patreon's data, held under their policy. RobinPad never receives or stores any of it: we do not see, need, or keep your card details or your payments at any point.

When you use the RobinPad drawing app itself, all of your work (sketches, pages, brushes, settings) is stored locally in your browser via IndexedDB. We do not transmit your drawings to any server.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected for the following purposes:

  • To create and maintain your community forum account.
  • To display your public profile information (display name, avatar) in forum posts and member lists.
  • To send you important account notifications (security, terms changes).
  • To enforce our Terms of Service.
  • To respond to support requests you send us.

We do not use your information for advertising, marketing, or any commercial purpose beyond operating the forum.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party services to operate the Service:

  • Patreon: authentication provider. Their use of your data is governed by the Patreon Privacy Policy.
  • Hosting infrastructure: our web and database servers are hosted with a standard cloud provider. Data at rest is encrypted.
  • GoatCounter: privacy-friendly web analytics. It counts anonymous pageviews, so we can understand which pages and features are useful. GoatCounter is cookie-free: it does not place cookies in your browser, does not fingerprint your device, and does not track you across sites. Each pageview sends the page path, the referrer, your browser name (from the User-Agent), and a hashed version of your IP address. The IP is used only to derive a country for aggregate statistics and is discarded within 24 hours. Their use of your data is governed by the GoatCounter Privacy Policy.
  • Umami: privacy-friendly web analytics, running next to GoatCounter for the time being. It counts anonymous pageviews the same way and stores no personal data: it is also cookie-free, with no fingerprinting and no tracking across sites. Each pageview sends the page path, the referrer, your browser name (from the User-Agent), and a shortened version of your IP address (the first four parts of an IPv4 address, or the first 48 bits of an IPv6 address). The IP is used only to derive a country for aggregate statistics and is then discarded. Their use of your data is governed by the Umami Privacy Policy.

Both counters receive the public website and the drawing app, so their numbers can be compared side by side. We are running the two in parallel for now and will keep only one of them. Pageviews from the /admin panel are not tracked by either.

Why we chose them. Both tools are on this list by design, not by default. Because they store nothing in your browser and set no cookies, we do not need a cookie banner anywhere on this site, and we never ask you to agree to being tracked. There is nothing to opt out of. A conventional analytics tool would have meant a consent dialog on every page before you could read anything, so we picked the ones that make it unnecessary. Running two for a while is simply how we decide which one to keep.

5. Cookies

The Service uses a single session cookie to keep you signed in to the community forum. The cookie contains a session identifier and expires when you sign out or after 30 days of inactivity. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party analytics cookies. Neither GoatCounter nor Umami (see §4) sets any cookies.

This means no cookie banner. There is no consent dialog on this site, and none is needed: the only cookie we ever set is the one that keeps you signed in to the forum, and our analytics stores nothing in your browser at all. If that ever changes, the banner will appear.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We do not store your IP address. It is never written to the database: not in your account, not in your sessions, not with your posts. It is used transiently, in memory, while a request is being served, to slow down automated abuse, and that is all, and then discarded. The anti-abuse counters are keyed by an irreversible hash of the address, not by the address itself.

Your forum account data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email address below. We will action deletion requests within 30 days.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate personal data.
  • Delete your personal data (account deletion).
  • Export your forum data (posts, profile).

For data held by Patreon, your payments, your pledge, your Patreon account settings, contact Patreon. For the copy RobinPad holds to run the forum, contact us at the address below and we will action it within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

Patreon applies its own age requirements to its accounts. RobinPad does not knowingly create a forum profile for anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), encryption at rest for stored data, and access controls on our infrastructure. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
