Inspiration

What RobinPad is, what it isn't, and the choices that shaped it.

The physical space was my main source of inspiration, and I wanted to convey that feeling in a digital painting format.

Here you can watch some of my videos, painting with traditional techniques with gouache, many years ago.

That's the experience I want to recreate with RobinPad. Or, at least, something similar in terms of tranquility, atmosphere, and feel.

Imitating traditional techniques

In my digital painting process, I aim to emulate analog methods. I prefer using basic brushes, essentially simple stamps, rather than sophisticated effects or pre-defined shapes, such as trees or foliage, to maintain a hand-crafted feel.

I love painting with stroke-based brushes of various shapes that complement my marks, rather than using stamps that automatically generate trees or clusters of vegetation. I prefer to paint as if I were using traditional media, focusing on individual strokes and playing with the shape of the brush itself.

The goal is to enjoy painting

RobinPad isn’t trying to be the ultimate professional illustration tool. Instead, it’s designed to be a space where you can paint at your own pace, a place to practice, experiment, and simply enjoy the process in a warm, welcoming environment. If you create something you’d like to use in a larger project, you can easily export your work and continue refining it with more advanced tools.
