Technical requirements

RobinPad opens in the browser and behaves like any other desktop app: you paint, you save, and you keep working without leaving the page.

What you need

A current browser. RobinPad works with Chrome-based browsers (Chromium), which are almost all the ones you already have installed:

Helium is open source, very light, focused on privacy and with no Google services. If your browser isn't on this list, RobinPad will show you a notice when you open the app, with the link to download it.

Your stuff stays on your computer

RobinPad doesn't upload anything to any server. Your drawings, your brushes, your themes and your settings are saved on your own computer, with no account and no copy in any cloud. To share, you export the file yourself.

Install RobinPad on your computer

You can also install it like any other app, with its own icon and its own window, without the browser bar. It's in Settings, under Download: press the button and the browser will ask if you want to install it. If you accept, RobinPad shows up in your apps and on your desktop, and from then on it also opens without a connection.

Your computer

RobinPad is made for a desktop computer with a keyboard and a pen tablet. Tablets with a screen are the ideal: you draw with the pen and leave the keyboard for the shortcuts, which is where the speed difference is.

On tablets like iPad or Android you can use it, but you get less out of it: keyboard shortcuts and pen gestures are exactly what makes working comfortable. Full touch support is on the way, so for now it's an app meant to be used with a keyboard.

One limit worth knowing: the browser doesn't recognize the extras of each tablet brand, so the tablet is seen as a generic input device. The pressure comes through, but not all of its levels, and the pen buttons (rotation, tilt) are not available.
