How it works

The washi tape sticks to the page edges and, when peeled off, leaves a clean border around the picture.

Turning the tape on

Open the tools menu and choose "Washi Tape": its settings panel opens. You can turn the tape on and off at any moment, so you never need to place it at the start. Turn it on once you finish painting to get the peeling effect.

The washi tape panel: the switch to show it, the edges, the width in pixels, the pattern selector and the peel button.

Important warning

Peeling removes the paint on top of the tape and it cannot be recovered. Once the tape is off, the effect cannot be undone: keep important paint away from where it runs.

The settings

  1. Turn on "Show washi tape": the tape is placed along the 4 edges of the page.

  2. In "Edges" hide or show the ones you want, so tape only on the active edges.

  3. In "Width" you choose the thickness of the tape, in pixels. Move it between 100 and 400, and the default is 250. Pick it according to the edge you reserve for peeling.

  4. In "Pattern" you pick one of the default patterns. You can also use those from a theme imported through the theme selector, import a pattern from your computer, or take what you painted on the current page.

Peeling the tape

When everything is set, press "Peel washi". Handles appear in the corners of the active edges: drag one in the direction it points to start peeling.

When you press Peel tape, handles appear at the corners of the active edges, which you drag in the marked direction.

The Reset to defaults button, in the panel header, takes you back to the factory setup in one go, without resetting each section by hand. If you change your mind halfway through peeling, cancel it with Cancel peel.
