Create and Import
This window is for creating a new notebook or opening one you already saved.
Keep one thing in mind before you go on: creating or importing a notebook replaces the one you have open. If you want to keep it, save it first in Settings.
The title and the pages
The window has two columns. On the left, everything that defines the notebook. On the right, the explanation of sizes and the option to import.
The first thing you see, at the very top, is the notebook title and the number of pages. The title takes up to 60 characters and you can change it later in Settings › General › Notebook title. When you export, the files are saved with that name.

Next to the title, the pages and the custom size there is a small question mark icon. If you have doubts about any of those three fields, click it and a window will open with the explanation.
Orientation
Below, the orientation decides whether the notebook is taller than wide or the other way around:
- Portrait: taller formats.
- Landscape: wider formats.

When you pick the Square format both options go dim, and that is not a bug: a 1:1 measures exactly the same in portrait as in landscape, so the choice would not apply. Pick a different format and they become available again.
Featured formats
Below you have the three featured formats, the ones you will use almost every time. Each one shows its exact size underneath:
- Square (1:1): 1728 × 1728 px.
- Screen: 1728 × 3072 px in portrait, 3072 × 1728 px in landscape.
- Instagram: 1728 × 2160 px in portrait, 2160 × 1728 px in landscape.

Custom size
If none of the formats fit what you need, you can write the measurements yourself, in pixels. Width and Height sit on the same line because they are one single measurement, which is why they appear as Width × Height.
Each side can go from 512 to 4000 px. There is a limit because very large pages make painting slower. Even so, 4000 px per side is more than enough for paintings you want to export at print quality.
Type both numbers and the custom size replaces whatever format you had selected. If you only type one of the two, the format stays.
If the measurements are not valid, a red message will appear under the fields explaining what went wrong: whether the number is out of range, whether you did not type numbers only, or whether the total size is too large.
Other formats
Under the custom size you have Other formats. It comes folded, because these seven proportions take more vertical room than the three featured ones and you will use them far less often. Click it to unfold it and you will see:
- DIN A: 1728 × 2445 px.
- Letter: 1728 × 2237 px.
- Classic Photo: 1728 × 2592 px.
- Poster: 1728 × 2304 px.
- Classic Portrait: 1728 × 2419 px.
- Vertical Panoramic: 1728 × 2765 px.
- Ultra Panoramic: 1728 × 4032 px.

All of them flip according to the orientation you chose, so the measurements you see are the portrait ones or the landscape ones depending on what you have marked above.
The Formats and sizes section explains why these measurements are what they are and how they affect the export.
The Create New Pad button
It sits at the end of the left column. When you press it, the notebook is created with whatever configuration you have selected at that moment.

Import a notebook
At the bottom of the right column is the option to import a complete notebook you have exported before. You need the .rpad file you downloaded when you exported.
The imported notebook will replace the one you have open, so export yours first if you want to keep it. The same warning appears inside the window, right above the button, so you do not miss it.

About sizes
In the right column there is a notice that explains something important: formats are not real physical measurements, they are proportions. You can scale your painting up to print quality when you export, without that affecting the way you paint. The notice links to the Formats and sizes section, where the full explanation is.
