Library

Each kind of content lives in its own folder inside your library, and each one has its own mosaic. Leave your own files in those folders and RobinPad shows them, with a picture of each one.

What goes in each folder

  • brushes: brush packs, in the .rbrush format.
  • themes: themes, in the .rth format.
  • palettes: color palettes, in .json or .aco.
  • washitape: washi tape images.
  • Pads: your saved pads, in the .rpad format.
  • Data: the copies of your library, inside a backups folder.

Brush packs

A brush pack is a group of brushes that travel together, in the .rbrush format. The mosaic shows the pack with its own picture, not the tip of a brush: that way you recognize it at a glance. Switch it on and the brushes are in the app; switch it off and they go back to the folder, still there.

More information: Brush sets.

Themes

A theme carries the look of the app: the paper texture, the desk shadow, the interface textures and the cursor. Only one theme is in use at a time, and switching it changes everything around your painting.

More information: How to create a theme.

Palettes

A color palette is a list of colors, in .json or .aco. Unlike brushes and themes, several palettes can be switched on together, so you can keep the one you are painting with next to the ones you are still choosing from.

More information: Palettes.

Washi tapes

Washi tapes are the images you use to frame a page. Several of them can be switched on at once, and the ones you have already placed on a page stay there even if you switch the pack off later.

Pads

Your saved pads live in the Pads folder, in the .rpad format. This is the folder RobinPad writes to.

Save current Pad writes the pad you are working on into that folder, with the name you gave it. If a file with that name is already there, RobinPad asks whether to replace it or to keep this one as a new pad. New Pad opens the dialog for a new pad, and that pad joins your library the same way, when you save it.

The mosaic shows each saved pad with a preview of its first page. Open makes one of them the pad you work on, so the pad you had open is replaced by it. The one you have open carries the Current Pad badge, and saving it again replaces that same file instead of piling up copies.

A pad with a single page is a pad like any other. It is saved, named and opened in exactly the same way, and the file keeps the name of the pad.
